Hurricane Matthew Touches Florida
I just watched a little news this morning and I can’t believe that Hurricane Matthew isn’t done tearing up the South East Coast. The massive hurricane destroyed parts of Haiti before setting it’s sites on Florida. As we know, there’s more to hurricanes than a little rain and wind. We have the threat of tornadoes spinning off the hurricane, extreme winds, storm surges for coastal communities and flooding.
If there’s anything we learned from Hurricane Charlie it’s that it’s better to be prepared than sorry. Our family stocked up with a weeks worth of food and water just in case. And like many of our neighbors we came out okay. There have been reports of a few deaths in Florida and every single one is a tragedy. I’m continuing to pray for the victims and their families and also for those who haven’t met Matthew yet. Matthew is full of surprises and a when he shows up at your door, be as prepared as possible. If you are told to evacuate, do it!
I can’t explain why this type of devastation comes from time to time and I think we know that no area is spared forever. It’s in times like these that we need to come together in prayer lifting up our brothers and sisters enduring trials of such an extreme nature. All of us endure hardships of one type or another and it’s God who carries us through if we call on Him.
If you’re as blessed as I am, I’m sure you’ll find a way to give back and help those who weren’t as fortunate. I suggest you pray that Christ bring you to the right organization so that your money or talents will be used as much as possible to benefit those in need. You are in my prayers today!
Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me, Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
